Galicia, Spain
Casa Prior · September 2026 · 10 guests maximum
Playa de Santa Comba
Praia de Pantín

Galicia sits in the north-western corner of Spain where the Atlantic hits hard. Quiet, rugged, and genuinely beautiful. In September the weather is still good, the water temperature comfortable, surf is consistent and the summer crowds have gone.

The House

Casa Prior is a restored stone farmhouse set in private gardens, a fifteen-minute walk from the beaches at Santa Comba and Esmelle. The house belongs to Camilla, who lives on site and looks after guests personally. Stone walls, wooden beams, a terrace for morning coffee and evening meals.

Location

The house sits on a peninsula with walking and running paths in every direction, some crossing to other parts of the coastline, others leading to neighbouring villages. Good country for running, cycling, or simply wandering. There are several bars, restaurants, and two small grocery stores within easy reach. Ferrol is fifteen minutes by car; A Coruna forty-five minutes; Santiago de Compostela an hour.

The Food
Dinner at Casa Prior Fresh fish

Breakfast is eggs, bread, yoghurt, fresh fruit, coffee and tea. Lunch is light: tortilla, fresh salads, bread with local cheese and cured meats, either on the terrace or taken to the beach. Dinner is served at a shared table each evening: locally sourced fish, clams, vegetables from the garden. Wine is served with dinner and beer is available throughout. All dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.

The Surf

Coaching is led by Luis Rodriguez, one of Galicia's most experienced surf coaches and a former ISA World Championship finalist. Sessions run each morning, with groups split by ability where needed. The trip is suitable for beginner to intermediate surfers. Some prior experience in the water is helpful, though not essential.

Tom
Tom ,
Surf Lead & Trip Host
Qualified ISA surf coach and RNLI lifeguard. Tom hosts each trip, keeps things running on the ground, runs theory sessions out of the water, and works alongside the local coaches in the surf. The last decade has taken him to Puerto Escondido, G-Land, and some of the more unforgiving breaks on the planet. In recent years he has gravitated toward mid-lengths and longboards, the quieter, more technical side of surfing. His focus is on helping guests move better in the water, not just catching waves but looking good doing it. He also loves open water swimming, which is why it often features on trips.
Laia
Laia ,
Yoga Lead
Based in Barcelona, where she previously ran her own yoga and wellness club. She has practised yoga for years and understands intimately what surfing does to the body, the shoulders, the lower back, the hips. Her sessions are built around movement and recovery, keeping guests injury-free and feeling better in the water with every session.
Georgie
Georgie ,
Creative Director
After years connecting people across the entertainment industry, Georgie found her truest community in the water. She has chased swells from the Atlantic coast of West Africa to the shores of Sri Lanka, and channelled everything she has learned about belonging and adventure into newwave.
Max
Max ,
Exploration Lead
Previously worked in the startup industry including virtual reality and other AI software, spending the better part of a decade travelling the European coastline with a board under his arm. He has an instinct for finding places that do not appear on any map, secluded breaks, hidden coves, the restaurant down the backstreet that only locals know. He plans the excursions, scouts the locations, and makes sure every trip goes somewhere worth going.
Local Hosts
Camilla
Camilla ,
Host, Casa Prior, Galicia
Camilla is originally from Norway and has made her home in northern Spain, where she is very much part of the local community. Casa Prior is her house, which she has restored and runs as a trip space. She is a warm and attentive host, and the quality of the food and the house is down to her.
Luis
Luis ,

Luis has been surfing since 1990 and is one of Galicia's finest, both in competition and free surfing. Known for his style in hollow waves and his appetite for size, his record speaks for itself: ISA World Championship runner-up, European champion, and multiple-time champion of Spain and Galicia.
